Severn Federation Safeguarding means:
Safeguarding children and child protection and legislation applies to all children up to the age of 18.
The children participate in workshops with the NSPCC to help them understand how to stay safe from harm and so that they know what to do if they are unsafe.
At this school, we abide by the statutory guidance from the Government which sets out what schools must do to keep children safe. Each member of staff is expected to read and agree to the guidance and this forms part of our staff induction process. For the Government’s guidance click here.
All staff are aware of the Prevent Duty and have had training in what to do if they have concerns that a child is at risk of radicalisation. This is in line with statutory guidance from the Government. A register is held to show that staff have participated in this training. To read the guidance from the Government click here.
Children are taught how to stay safe online as part of our Computing scheme of work. We also recognise Online Safety Day in February and often welcome visitors into school to help children develop strategies to keep themselves safe. Please see our Online Safety Policy and our online safety section for more information.
Safeguarding children is everyone’s responsibility. If in any doubt, speak out.
