Special Educational Needs

At this school, we strive to ensure that all children have access to a broad and balanced curriculum, which is relevant to their individual needs and enables them to flourish. Most needs can be met through high quality teaching provided in the classroom with the class teacher, however, where it is agreed by school and families that this is not the case, adaptations may be made to enable that child to succeed.

Our staff work closely with our SENCO, Christine Wilson, to ensure that any children who have been identified as having additional needs are supported and challenged appropriately; this may sometimes involve seeking support and advice from outside agencies such as Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists. We aim to build a partnership between families and school staff which puts the child’s needs first.

If a child has additional medical needs we work closely with families to ensure they receive the care and attention they need whilst at school.

Any parents who are concerned about their child’s progress should make an appointment through the school office to speak to the class teacher and / or the SENCO, Christine Wilson.  A copy of SFATs Special Needs Policy is available by following this link special-educational-needs-and-disabilities-policy.pdf or from the school office.

If you would like a paper copy of the information available on this website, please contact the school office. This can be provided free of charge.
